Saona Island and Altos de Chavon Tour

Full Day

Description

Let’s mix the art with beauty and fun.

The town called Altos De Chavón is a 16th century replica of a Mediterranean Italian village above the Chavón River in Dominican Republic. The village was created by an Italian master designer and cinematographer Roberto Coppa. Dominican artisans handcrafted the stone pathways, decorative ironwork, furniture and enchanting buildings, reviving almost forgotten crafts of metal work and stone carving.

The village was inaugurated in 1982 with the concert of Frank Sinatra at the amphitheater.
Now and day this old village is the most exclusive place to live in Dom. Rep. And the amphitheater is the scenary of international singers like: Elton John, Andrea Bochelli, David Guetta, Julio Iglesias, Enrique Iglesias, Sting, Ricardo Arjona, Pitbull, Jennifer López, Ricky Marting and the list never ends.

Once you have enjoyed the beauty of altos de chavón, there will be a chill out catamaran to the beautiful Saona Island, a tropical island located a short distance from the mainland on the south-east tip of the Dominican Republic, it is a government protected nature reserve and a popular destination for tourists from all over the Dominican Republic, thousands of people arrive in fleets of catamarans and small motorboats every day. The Island is famous for the natural beauty of its beaches, and has been used on many occasions by filmmakers and advertisers looking for a stereotypical desert island setting for their film or product. On Saona Island you can relax on the beach, enjoy the crystalline waters or explore the tropical surrounds. Here you will find one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean full of white sand, coconut palms and crystal clear turquoise waters. After a bit of relaxation, enjoy a BBQ buffet lunch with the typical Dominican flavor. There will be an open bar with local drinks. After the delicious lunch you will have time to relax and appreciate the island and later be returned to land by speed boat and once you are on land… it is sad to say it, but is time to take you back to your hotel, but we are sure you’ll be back.

Christian & chocolate picked us up promptly at 7 am and other members of our party joined us from another bus – so we were on the road immediately instead of going to a bunch of hotel pick ups. After obligatory gift store ‘bathroom’ stop we beat the crowd at Altos de Chavon (cool village) and went on to board our boat (we were lucky to have the catamaran ride to the island – rum & cokes, dancing, fun crowd and cover from the few morning rain showers. Boat was nice and not crowded with only 20 of us. Lunch was ok, beach was awesome (was happy to have water shoes), weather perfect. Speedboat ride back was quick with a 45 min stop for fun & rum at the swimming hole. Crew went out of there way to entertain us. Even my 94 yr old dad had fun!

Christia was our tour guide and he was such a kind tour guide! The tour was very nice. We went to altos de chavon and then with a catamaran we went to saona island. On the way back we went with a speedboat.
